Poem: An Ode to my ex Wife

An Ode to My Ex-Wife

Once, you were the rhythm in my quiet,

A name my heart knew without thinking.

We built a world, imperfect, real.

Full of mornings, laughter, silence, and struggle.

You taught me what love could be,

And what it could not hold.

You mirrored my strengths,

And reflected my flaws with quiet honesty.

I came down to Mumbai for our first meeting,

Wide-eyed, unsure, but open.

The city was a blur,

But your smile gave it meaning.

We laughed like old friends,

As if time had simply waited for us to arrive.

In that city, we planted the seeds of us,

Hoping they’d bloom through distance and time.

And for a while, they did.

Through calls, visits, tears, and shared dreams,

We tried truly, we did.

But some stories are poems, not novels.

Beautiful, but brief.

Not failures, just finished.

Now, I leave Mumbai,

The same skyline, a different heart.

The echoes of our first steps

Now dissolve into footnotes.

From the warmth of beginnings

To the ache of letting go,

Mumbai holds it all,

Our first hello, and now, my quiet goodbye.

Though the road turned,

And we now walk apart,

I carry no bitterness, only gratitude

For the days we shared.

May your path ahead be bright,

And your peace be full.

For in knowing you, I grew.

And in parting, I begin anew.
